Lunch times
Hot meals
From September 2026, school meals at St. Peter’s CE Primary School, Henfield will be provided by ISS Education, who are taking over from Chartwells as part of a new West Sussex County Council contract. Their catering team formally joins ISS on 1st August, ready for the new term. From mid-August, parents will be able to register and order meals through their new Kanpla app or web portal. The current meal price, per child is £2.95.
How to order: Please have a look at the following short video which has been produced by ISS to guide Parents through the setting up of a FEED account How to Set Up Your FEED Account . Once registered, Parents are able to browse the menu and place meal orders directly through the app or web portal. It is worth noting:
- Parents can order for the whole term in one go, or set up recurring or default orders, such as a vegetarian meal four days a week and then have a packed lunch on Mondays;
- Auto top-up can be switched on so the account balance is topped up automatically when running low;
- Multiple children can be managed under one Parent account, even across different schools and year groups;
- Medical Dietary requirements and preferences can all be managed by the app or web portal;
- Orders can be placed or cancelled up until 9.00am on the day, so children can still have a hot meal even if placed that morning.
Free School Meals – Thanks to Universal Infant Free School Meals, children in YR, Y1 and Y2 can enjoy a hot meal at no cost. Children in Y3 and above may also qualify based on individual circumstances. In addition, from September 2026, all pupils whose households receive Universal Credit will be eligible for free school meals. Packed lunches
A packed lunch can be brought in if a hot meal is not wanted. It cannot contain:
- sweets
- chocolates
- any nut products as we do have pupils and staff with severe nut allergies.
Drinks in school
Every child should come to school with a bottle of water, which they will have access to throughout the day. Bottles should only contain water, as fruit juice, squash, fizzy drinks are not permitted. Milk
Children in YR are eligible to receive milk, which is given in a small carton every morning break. The cost is free until a child’s 5th birthday whereby Parents/Carers will be contacted by Cool Milk, the milk provider for an account to be opened. Fruit/Breaktime Snack
A piece of fruit or vegetable is available for every child in Years R, 1 and 2 as a mid-morning snack to have at break. Children in Years 3,4,5 and 6 should bring their own piece of fruit of veg in to enjoy.
Can my child bring in edible treats for the whole class?
We are unable to allow sweets or cakes of any type to be brought into school, regardless of the reason e.g. a birthday celebration or end of term treat.
