Admission Arrangements

Is your child starting school next September?

If so now is the time to be considering where you would like them to begin their primary education.  Set in the beautiful village of Henfield, St. Peter’s is an inclusive school family which values each child as an individual.  Our Key Values are Resilient, Resourceful, Respectful and Always Aiming High, which underpin everything we do.  To see our lovely school for yourselves, you are warmly invited to visit us on one of our open events which will include a tour of the school, a visit to the YR unit and a presentation by our Headteacher, Mrs Maurice:

Saturday 8th November: 10am – 12.00pm / Wednesday 12th November: 9.30am / Friday 14th November: 2.00pm

To register your interest in attending please follow https://forms.office.com/e/JB0WG1J4NY

We look forward to meeting you.

For any enquiry regarding admission to St. Peter’s, please contact the admissions department at West Sussex County Council on 0330 222 3444 or admissions.south@westsussex.gov.uk.  For further information, you can visit their website at: www.westsussex.gov.uk/education-children-and-families/schools-and-colleges/school-places/ .

Please also refer to our Admission Policies for 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 for further guidance. We warmly welcome any visits to our school, and if you would like to arrange a day and time then please contact Mrs Alice Timmins, our Office Manager on 01273 492447 or by email office@stpetershenfield.org.uk

To place an application please follow https://www.westsussex.gov.uk/education-children-and-families/schools-and-colleges/school-places/apply/starting-school-places/ If St. Peter’s is one of your preferred choices, then please could we also ask you to complete a Supplementary Information Form. This is then used to support your application and to aid us in offering places, as we are a voluntary aided school and thereby control part of the admission process.

Waiting Lists

When an admission application is refused for Years 1 to 6, because the year applied for is full, the child’s name can be entered onto a waiting list for that year group upon Parent request, which will be maintained by the school. The child’s name will remain on the waiting list for one year or until a place becomes available. After one year, the parents can request that their child’s name remains on the list for a further year.  Names on waiting lists are held strictly in ranked order according to the child’s compliance with the oversubscription criteria.

Appeal

In some circumstances, a Parent may wish to appeal the decision of St. Peter’s not being able to offer a place. Please follow Make an admissions appeal – West Sussex County Council for further guidance on the appeal process.
