Y6 played a full part in this year’s Remembrance starting with a service at St. Peter’s Church on the Friday. We took our individually made clay poppies with us so that they could be on display throughout the remembrance weekend. At Church we heard eulogies of fallen serviceman, read by 11 children who then went on, with 6 more children to lay poppies in the cemetery afterwards, with the rest of Y6 returning to school. On Sunday, 6 of our House Ambassadors, with Miss Foster, represented the school in the village parade, service with Otto and Imogen laying a wreath at the war memorial. All Y6 children, in their various roles, behaved with great respect and were a credit to the school on this important occasion.

Well done to all the Year 6 children who put on two amazing performances of Aladdin on Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th July. Full of energy, the cast received a standing ovation both nights and it reflected the hard work and effort they put in to the show! It was great to see so many smiling faces and we hope they have lots of lasting memories!
If you are reporting your child as being unwell, and unable to come to school, why not try emailing us on our new ‘absence’ email address – absence@stpetershenfield.org.uk. This is only to be used for absences, any change in pick-up arrangements still need to be reported by telephoning Jodie before 3.00pm, to ensure the change is given to the Class Teacher in time for the end of school. Similarly, any request for extended absence e.g. holiday need to be requested using a leave of absence form, obtained from the office.
Y6 had a fantastic week on the Isle of Wight at PGL before half term with wonderful weather to match! Children enjoyed a variety of activities, ranging from kayaking to climbing, abseiling, orienteering and fencing. We felt the children really developed their co-operative teamwork skills, working together but also encouraging each other with challenging tasks brilliantly. We were very impressed with them over the week and hope they have lots of fun memories to treasure!
Below is a link that Parents/Carers may find useful as it gives information regarding SATs results.
If your family income is below £16,190, additional Government funding may be claimed by the school. Successful applications will be entitled to a hot school meal each day, milk at break-time, a £50 voucher to spend at our uniform suppliers, First4uniforms (only applies to new applications) and financial support with school trip payments. Your child may already be entitled to a hot meal via UIFSM (Universal Infant School Meals) however we strongly encourage you to register your child so that our school receives as much funding as possible.
If you are a parent who is in the regular armed forces, the school can also claim for additional funding. If you fulfil this criteria, please contact Cheryl Marrs, School Business Manager.
Please be reassured that this process is entirely confidential.
